Settings — Defaults
The Settings ▸ Defaults page is a cross-cutting overview of every default Athenty ships. It shows what your organization has changed from those defaults and lets you restore any of them — a single setting, every scope of a setting, or everything at once.
What’s a “default”?
Section titled “What’s a “default”?”A default is how a feature behaves until you change it — for example, how critical dates are calculated, or which holidays a jurisdiction observes. Athenty ships sensible defaults so the product works out of the box; a change only ever appears here once someone in your organization customises it.
What’s on the page
Section titled “What’s on the page”Defaults are grouped the same way they appear elsewhere in Settings. Each entry shows:
- A Customised badge when your organization has changed it from the system default, or a Default badge when it’s untouched.
- For settings that vary by scope (for example, deadline rules per jurisdiction), each scope is listed with its own badge, so you can see exactly what changed where.
- An Edit link that opens that setting’s own page, where the change is made. The Defaults page is the overview and restore surface — you edit values on each feature’s own page.
Restoring a default
Section titled “Restoring a default”- Restore next to a customised entry clears just that change and returns the setting to Athenty’s system default.
- Restore all to defaults at the top clears every customisation on the page at once, after a confirmation prompt.
Restoring never deletes your data — it only clears the configuration change, so the setting returns to its out-of-the-box behaviour. Only owners and admins can restore defaults.
Adding more defaults over time
Section titled “Adding more defaults over time”This page is powered by a registry that each feature plugs into, so more of Athenty’s defaults (managed lists, accounting defaults, and others) will appear here as they are wired in — without changing how you use the page.
