Workflow ▸ Tasks
The Tasks sub-tab (Matter detail ▸ Workflow ▸ Tasks) lists the work to be done on the matter. Each task has:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Task | A short name for the work, e.g. “Draft the agreement of purchase and sale”. Required. |
| Type | The kind of work. Types come from one list shared by your whole firm, so everyone uses the same ones. Optional. |
| Assigned to | The team member responsible. Optional. |
| Due date | The day the task should be finished. Optional. A task past its due date that is not Done is marked Overdue. |
| Status | Open, In progress or Done. New tasks start as Open. |
| Notes | Anything else the person doing the work should know. Optional. |
Working with tasks
Section titled “Working with tasks”- Add a task — select New task, fill in the fields and save.
- Edit a task — select Edit on the task, change any field and save.
- Mark a task done — use Mark done on the task. The date it was completed and who completed it are recorded. If the work turns out not to be finished, Reopen it and it goes back to Open.
- Delete a task — delete removes it from the matter. The deletion is recorded in the audit log.
Anyone who can see the matter can see and work its tasks.
Task types
Section titled “Task types”Task types are managed in Settings ▸ Managed Lists ▸ Time Activities — the same list used for the Activity on a time entry, so a firm defines each kind of work once. Your firm can rename, reorder, archive or add types there. Archiving a type removes it from the picker but keeps it on the tasks that already use it.
Coming next. Linking time entries to a task, and activities defined per task type, are planned for a later release.
